Euphorbia cerifera A vegetable wax from a plant that grows in southern Texas and northwestern Mexico. This natural product is extracted by boiling the shrub. The wax is then refined so the end product is a light yellow pastille (bead). Non-toxic and non-irritating. Candelilla is used in a variety of cosmetic and personal care products including lip products. Has film forming and water repellent qualities. Suited for uses where a firm product is desired. Can be used to add hardness to other waxes without increasing melt point. Can be used as a glazing agent in food, confections and pharmaceuticals. A vegan alternative to beeswax and for gelling oils in nutraceutical applications.
